I had a huge paragraph typed before I added these photos but for some KNOWN reason, that being the age and lack of strength of my computer, it deleted it all and kicked me out...
But, I will continue...The two photos at the bottom are of the beautiful Santander summer. My roommate had a friend come from the states and we were on a walk up the never ending mountain showing him around..The water glowed through the buildings so I had to take a shot here..The other is of the cove closest to my piso...people enjoying the sailing in the blue sea :)
The photos are of the most incredible day I've had yet..I might even say it beat Pamplona and Salamanca. Other places just can't beat the mountains in Cantabria!
We went on a 9 hour hike through the mountains near Burgos. I swear, the genuinely nice people of Santander are hikers and we were lucky enough to meet all of them for a second hike. There were two groups doing two separate hikes in different places this day. One group of ERASMUS students (which we avoided at all costs) and one group of older people that just hike for fun and exercise, and some local students who we've met before on other hikes. It was an absolute blast! My knees were RUINED, and my neck absolutely FRIED, but other than that, BEAutiful weather, wonderful company, and pure nature...what more could you ask for?
We climbed to the very top, all up hill..then marched straight down - to the point that you were leaning backwards to stay upright - but I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT.
It was 8.10 Euro for the guided hike and for the hour bus ride there and back. Can't beat that :)
